Clever Champs The Trapped Turtle

Back in March we reviewed our first Clever Champs book, The Missing Moon. A small company with big goals, Clever Champs want to help educate and inspire the next generation by simultaneously getting kids interested in reading and STEM subjects by engaging their curiosity. By offering personalised story books, Clever Champs have found a way to introduce some pretty huge topics in an easily digestable format.

Marianna really loved the book so we were super keen to review Clever Champs’ new release, The Trapped Turtle. Aimed at three to six year olds, the book measures 10″ x 16″ and can be personalised with up to four characters. This summer Marianna has been mostly playing with two particular friends so I thought it would be nice to personalise the book with the three of them. That way it will always be a memento of summer 2022 – a little snapshot in time, as it were!

As with our first review, the personalisation process was very easy. You can pick the character’s gender, name, hair length, and skin / hair / eye colour. You can also put a message to be printed at the front of the book. Deciding what to write here was actually the hardest part of the whole process for me! In the end I went for: ‘To Marianna, Love you to infinity and beyond! Love Mum x’

With the order placed, it took just a few days turnaround time for the package to arrive. I’m not sure if I mentioned it last time, but the card book envelope is so cute! I used my circle cutter on the last one and turned the planet bit into a badge. 🙂

The story itself is really sweet. Marianna, Ellie, and Lily are enjoying a day at the beach where they help reunite a turtle named Snappy with his family, learning about the damage pollution and waste are doing to our oceans and wildlife. The book also provides ideas of how even young children can help the situation – for example, turning off the light when you leave a room, walking more, putting litter in the bin, and recycling whenever you can.

Again, the quality of the book and binding are excellent, and the artwork is lovely. Above is Marianna’s favourite page. I was really pleased with the whole experience, from the ordering right through to the take away message.

Marianna says: “I liked it a lot. It was cool that it was me and my friends.”

Right now you can get your own copy of The Trapped Turtle for £27.
